MOONG WHOLE/ MOONG DAL WHOLE – WITH HUSK/WITHOUT HUSK
Moong Dal, known as Mung beans are small dry beans that have dark green skin. With their skins removed, mung beans are light yellow in color.
Due to its high protein value it gives great energy content and is easily digestible. These are essential elements for optimum health. It is also known for its cost effectiveness.As mentioned earlier, moong dal without husk is lighter than the ones with husk. These are sprouted and eaten as salads and curries are made by adding onions, tomatoes and basic spices.
MOONG WASH – WITH HUSK/WITHOUT HUSK
Split Moong dal is available with and without its husk. These carry the same health quotient as that of whole urad but in lesser quantity as these are milled. These can be soaked and eaten raw without any garnishings. Split moong dal skinned is golden in color, has a mild taste and is easy to cook. In Ayurveda, split and skinned moong dal is recommended for children, elderly people and convalescents as it is easily digested. Moong split with shells are called chilke moong. They are mainly used in curries and chutneys.
